Summer Bedding

Summertime is a bright and cheery time of year. And really hot, especially hot in Atlanta! I suggest changing out your bedding ensemble to create a cool, cozy and bright feel. The weight of the fabrics is key. You do not want to use very heavy, thick fabrics. Using light weight cottons and linen are a best bet in the summer months. You can just change a down filled duvet cover in the fall and winter months to a lightweight cotton comforter or quilt in the spring and summer. I even make certain to not use heavy textiles in the shop during this time of year. Light colors create an airy feel in your bedroom. I suggest whites and light colors such as butter yellow, a light terracotta (as shown), sage, light blue and of course; baby pink. If you have two bedding ensembles that are really good quality, they will last much longer if you only use them half of the year! Love Your Bedroom!

My personal living space is something I struggle with. I am so used to making the shop look cozy and homey, and I really do have a fondness for so many different styles and designs, I have a hard time letting go of everything and being settled. I constantly want to rearrange and change it up. I always however, love my bedroom. It is probably my favorite part of my living space. I love bedding and feeling cozy. The word 'cozy' would probably be the word my mother says is my favorite. It is just such a feel good word! It is a great description to describe a happy home! I work so hard to have Urban Cottage have a cozy feeling all the time. Downstairs at the shop, we have an entire area, with one of our Cottage Headboards which we offer in many colors and sizes, where we offer the entire line of Pine Cone Hill Bedding; as well as the Pine Cone Hill Sleepwear (that is a whole other thing I love!). We also have really comfy cotton comfortable comforters which are hand block printed from India and one of my personal favorites, Plover Organic. All of the bedding can be ordered in all the sizes (twin, full, queen and king) as well as the sheets, bed skirts and shams. I actually have quite a few interchangeable bedding ensembles. I like to have it change in the winter and in the summer! But, I honestly love getting into my warm and cozy Pine Cone Hill duvet cover (which is full of a down comforter) in the winter and my Plover Quilt in the summer! There is absolutely nothing more cozy! It is soooo hard for me not to get one of the new Plover Quilts for summer, which is around the corner...
